Post Election Notes: November 3, 2004

I think I'm about ready to resign from all of it.
Fuck it.
A majority of 'The people' spoke.
Let them (especially the Christian evangelicals) live in their goddam
Republican right world controlled by the worst representatives.
I'm through with the whole 'political process.'
If I were twenty years younger I would go live in Canada or Europe.
Too late.
Instead, back to the monastery---of my own choosing. (Which I frequent often,
but never long enough)
No more 'chatter'...including weaning oneself away from Public Radio (not an
easy thing). And TV news programs.
Cold Turkey...24 hrs after the election--no severe withdrawal symptoms yet.
You re-enter the natural world, keep your mind fixed on the silence of
place--the only balm left.
You take long walks.
You read some good fiction and poetry.
You spend time with a good friend and talk beauty or nonsense.
You lose yourself in a work of art.
You listen to jazz or classical.
You drink--a lot.
You help the other guy (anonymously).
You do your work.
Forget the year, the month, the day, the hour.
Only the moment of good, for the good of yourself.
